Dr. Eliza Chakravarty is an associate member of the Arthritis & Clinical Immunology Research Program at the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation in Oklahoma City. She graduated from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine medical school in 1997. She received a Master of Science degree in epidemiology from Stanford University School of Medicine in 2005.

Dr. Chakravarty’s lupus research focus includes studying the behavior of the altered immune system caused by autoimmune diseases and the underlying immune response to immunological challenges commonly encountered. Her lab's two main interests are the immunological response to pregnancy, where the immune system has to adapt to support the growing semi-allograft fetus, and the immunological response to viral infection and vaccination, particularly with the varicella-zoster virus. Using epidemiological and translational approaches, Dr. Chakravarty and her colleagues are studying the behavior of different autoimmune diseases during pregnancy as well as the outcomes of pregnancies among women with lupus and other autoimmune diseases. Dr. Chakravarty is the 2014 recipient of the Mary Betty Stevens Young Investigator Prize. She serves on the Grant Review Committee of the Lupus Foundation of America Medical-Scientific Advisory Council.
