Elin Gray PhD

Dr. Elin S. Gray is an Associate Professor of Cancer Research and Deputy Director at Edith Cowan University. She was a Cancer Research Trust Postdoctoral Fellow at the School of Medical Sciences at Edith Cowan University, Perth, Western Australia. Dr. Gray completed a BSc in Biochemistry at the University of Havana, Cuba, and obtained her PhD degree at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. She was a visiting Fogarty Fellow at the Vaccine Research Centre at the NIH and at Duke University, North Carolina, USA. She has made a substantial contribution to the understanding of the neutralizing antibody response to HIV-1 and authored more than 30 original articles in journals including Nature Medicine and PLoS Medicine. Elin moved to Perth in 2011 to join Prof Mel Ziman’s research group at Edith Cowan University. Dr. Gray's current research focuses on the characterization of blood markers for diagnosis and personalized treatment management of melanoma, in particular; circulating tumor cells (CTCs), circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA), and autoantibodies. Moreover, Elin is interested in the identification and characterization of melanoma cell subpopulations.
