Dr. Elie M. Ferneini, MD, DMD, MHS, MBA, FACS, has officially been named the new Editor in Chief of the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery. Dr. Ferneini follows Jane M. Petro, MD, who honorably served the publication for the past ten years in this role.

Dr. Ferneini is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University (B.S., Magna Cum Laude), Quinnipiac University (M.H.S., M.B.A.), and the University of Connecticut Medical and Dental Schools (D.M.D., M.D.). He is an assistant clinical professor at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Ferneini’s clinical experience is focused on both hospital and office-based maxillofacial surgical procedures, including reconstructive and cosmetic facial surgery.

Medical research and publishing have been a large part of Dr. Ferneini’s career. As a part of the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery and four other medical and surgical journals, he has served as a reviewer and publisher for many years. His research has been published in numerous journals and allowed him to lecture nationally and internationally.

“I am so honored to be stepping into this role as the Editor in Chief of the American Journal of Cosmetic Surgery,” says Dr. Ferneini. “My goals for the publication are to expand awareness of the Journal to a wider audience of medical students, surgical residents, and fellows, and to grow contributions from academic institutions and faculty so that the publication reaches an even higher level of esteem and recognition.”

Dr. Ferneini lives in Hamden Connecticut with his wife, Moniek, and his children Michael, Isabella, and Anthony.
