Elena Livia Sima BSc, MSc, PhD

Livia received her Master of Science degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Bucharest in 2005 followed by the PhD degree in Biological sciences granted by the Romanian Academy in 2011. Her previous research had two directions: the osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells onto biomaterials developed for bone regeneration applications and the modulation of melanoma cells signaling pathways and tumorigenesis by the pro-angiogenic chemokine GCP-2. Since joining Dr. Matei’s Lab in September 2016, her main project is focused on studying the action of drugs targeting transglutaminase 2 interaction with fibronectin for the treatment of ovarian cancer.​
