Dr. Elena Elimova, MD, MSc, FRCPC, is an accomplished medical oncologist and academic leader specializing in gastroesophageal cancers. She serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto and is a staff medical oncologist at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, where she cares for patients and contributes to cutting-edge oncology research and education.

Dr. Elimova completed her undergraduate studies and earned a Master of Science in Biochemistry at Queen’s University before receiving her medical degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland. She completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Ottawa School of Medicine, followed by a clinical fellowship in medical oncology at the University of Toronto and an advanced gastrointestinal (GI) medical oncology fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the United States. She is board-certified in both internal medicine and medical oncology.

Her clinical work is focused on improving outcomes for patients with gastroesophageal malignancies, and she is deeply involved in both translational research and the development and conduct of clinical trials to advance treatments in this challenging disease area. Dr. Elimova has authored and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and participates in major collaborative research efforts, including leadership roles such as Co-Chair of the Esophago-Gastric Disease Oriented Group for the Canadian Clinical Trials Group and membership in international steering committees related to esophagogastric cancer research.
