Dr. Elaine Jean Schattner is a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine on the voluntary faculty of Weill Medical College, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, and a Distinguished Member Emeritus of the American Society of Hematology. In 2009, she received a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University. Her freelance articles have appeared in the Atlantic, Cure Magazine, Forbes, the New York Observer, Scientific American, Slate, the Washington Post, and elsewhere. Her current work focuses on medical journalism, patients’ rights, and physicians’ health. Through blogging and social media, she has developed a prominent voice on policy and cancer patients’ access to modern diagnostic tests and treatments. She serves as a patient advocate on the external advisory.
