Elaine Boland has been a consultant in palliative medicine in Hull and EastRiding Hospitals since August 2012. She qualified in medicine from the University of Malta in 2002 and completed her general medical training and MRCP there before coming to the UK in 2006.
She worked in oncology and then as a SpR in palliative medicine in Sheffield. For her PhD, she studied the brain processing of chemotherapyinduced peripheral neuropathy in patients with multiple myeloma as well as assessing their quality of life and symptom burden
She is currently developing the services for patients with non-malignant diseases in Hull and East Riding as well as doing further research. She is a member of the Science Committee for the Association of Palliative Medicine.
