Bachelor's degree in Sports and Health Sciences (Dublin City University, 2006), and a PhD in Applied Physiology (Dublin City University, 2010). She currently leads a research program supported by the FAPESP/UK Academies Young Investigator Program named "The bone response to exercise and nutrition: A translational research program exploring clinical and mechanistic aspects" (process 2019/05616-6). She is a collaborating researcher and full advisor for the postgraduate program in Musculoskeletal System Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of São Paulo. She carried out two postdoctoral studies with a FAPESP scholarship (2015 2017; 2017 2018).

Previously, she was an associate professor at the School of Health Sciences, at Robert Gordon University, Scotland, where she was responsible for several undergraduate and postgraduate courses, mainly on the topics of exercise applied to clinical practice and health; sports nutrition; exercise physiology; research methods and principles of sports training. She is currently a member of the executive committee of STORK (Society for Transparency, Openness and Replication in Kinesiology). She has active research on the following topics: Therapeutic exercise; the bone response to exercise and nutrition; sports nutrition (focusing on energy availability and ergogenic supplements); physiology of female athletes and research methods and practices.
