Eec (eric) De Waal

dr. Waal After studying Medicine in Antwerp (RUCA-UIA), completed in 1988, Dr. De Waal trained as an anaesthesiologist at the Free University of Brussels. As part of this program, he completed 3.5 years of training at the Academic Hospital of the Vrije Universiteit van Brussel (B), 6 months at the Stedelijk Hospital in Roeselare (B), and 1 year at St. Antonius Hospital in Nieuwegein (NL). In 1993 he was recognized as anesthesiologist, both in Belgium and in the Netherlands.
Since August 1993 he works at the UMC Utrecht where he initially gained further experience in general and pediatric anesthesia. Since 1996 he has been working as cardio anesthesiologist and intensivist (recognized in 2000).
He received his doctorate in June 2009. The title of his thesis is: Advanced Cardiovascular Monitoring. He is currently co-supervisor of one of our doctor's assistants, and he is a member of the EACTA Subcommittee on transplants and support heart implants.
