Edwin Goedhart MD

Edwin Goedhart (1963) studied Medicine at the Free University in Amsterdam and after 4 years of specialization in sports medicine, he was registered as a sports medicine physician in 1996. After holding various positions in the field of sports medicine he is full-time engaged in professional football as head medical staff since 2002: AFC Ajax (9 years), AZ Alkmaar, and BV Vitesse (each 1 year). In 2012 he was asked to take over the role of the head medical staff of the Netherlands Football Team and in addition, he was appointed manager of sports medicine at the Royal Netherlands Football Association (KNVB) in 2013.

He holds several managerial roles in sports medicine organizations like the Netherlands Association of Sports Medicine (VSG), and the Dutch College of Teamphysicians (CCC) Special areas of interests are the management of sports concussions, the treatment of groin injuries in football, and the implementation of a scientific approach in football.
