Edward R. Laskowski, M.D. is a specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with additional subspecialty certification in Sports Medicine. He is the former Co-director of Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine, and a Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Division of Sports Medicine, Department of Orthopedics, at Mayo Clinic Rochester. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine, and he has been elected to the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland.

Nationally and internationally recognized for his expertise in fitness and sports medicine, Dr. Laskowski studies and promotes best practices for injury prevention and injury rehabilitation, general fitness, strength training, and stability training. Collectively, Dr. Laskowski's work has produced several hundred publication credits, including scientific papers, abstracts, books, book reviews, book chapters, and popular media and multimedia. He is a trusted voice in sports medicine and fitness, and he has been a resource for numerous national and international media.

Dr. Laskowski has received multiple honors throughout his career, including the American Medical Association's Resident Physician Award, the Kessler Excellence in Clinical Practice Award, and the Distinguished Public Service Award from the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He has been elected to the "Teacher of the Year Hall of Fame" at Mayo Clinic Rochester, and he was twice awarded Co-Director of the Course of the Year in the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine.

Dr. Laskowski has also provided medical services at events ranging from high school football to the Winter Olympics and the Chicago Marathon, and he is a Second Medical Opinion Physician for the NHL/NHLPA. From 2006 to 2010, he served as a member of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports under Presidents Bush and Obama, and he received a special commendation from the Department of Health and Human Services for his contributions to the Council. Dr. Laskowski is actively involved in musculoskeletal, sports medicine, and fitness research and education, and he has lectured as an Invited Professor at many national and international conferences. His goal is to provide accurate, reliable, evidence-based exercise recommendations that people can incorporate into their lives.
