Dr. Partridge is currently the Director of the UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, a center with a long and rich history addressing issues of cancer disparities through research and service in both rural and inner-city underserved communities. His cancer control research is focused on health disparities. He currently serves as PI for the Deep South Cancer Control Network, addressing age-appropriate screening, healthy eating, and physical activity in traditionally underserved, rural, and inter-city African American populations in Alabama and Mississippi.
He previously served as PI and is the current Co-PI of the Morehouse School of Medicine/Tuskegee University/UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center Partnership, which conducts both basic and applied research in cancer disparities and focuses on training of minority investigators. He is also the PI of the partnership with Johns Hopkins for a Cervical Specialized Progress of Research Excellence (SPORE) and previously served as PI for the Ovarian SPORE at UAB. He recently was awarded a large grant from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services to study the utilization of lay navigators across the UAB Cancer Care Network and across the continuum of disease through treatment, survivorship, and end of life.
Through his leadership of the Mid-South Division of the American Cancer Society, where he served as Chairman, ACS has focused on reducing and eliminating cancer disparities. As President of the American Cancer Society National Board of Directors, he provided leadership for the development of mission priorities that address cancer disparities.
Dr. Partridge has extensive administrative and organizational skills, has focused essentially his entire academic career on cancer disparities, and is well qualified to serve as the Program Director for this complex collaborative center.
