Dr. Edward Cisek, PhD, ensures the quality and effectiveness of CaringKind programs by applying his knowledge and skills in evaluation, research design, and data analysis. He also supports the funding of programs by applying for and overseeing the delivery of grants from private and family foundations. Finally, he ushered in CaringKind’s new research initiatives.

Prior to his work at CaringKind, he spent 12 years in the Research departments of two non-profit organizations that serve older adults and people living with HIV/AIDS. During this time, he served as principal investigator on multiple research projects, presented project results at professional conferences, and published work in print and online. He holds a PhD in Developmental Psychology, with a specialization in Applied Developmental Psychology, from Fordham University.

Dr. Cisek’s passion for this work is driven by his experience observing firsthand the effects of dementia on the whole family while his grandmother (known as “babcia”) lived with the condition for many years. He also learned through work on the Seattle Longitudinal Study how older adults can retain and, in some cases, improve cognitive abilities as they age.
