Ed Sherer Current responsibilities include Directing the NMR team in Analytical Enabling Technologies to support structure elucidation across all modalities and mechanism elucidation. Previously he drove the strategic expansion of computational, cheminformatics, and structural support into Process Research & Development and Analytical Chemistry at Merck. That team brought together a diverse modeling background to impact protein, peptide, and biologics design in the areas of biocatalysis, protein engineering, modalities (peptide, RNA, nanobodies, etc.), and traditional small molecule discovery and development.

A great way to get involved with the computational community is through the Computers in Chemistry Division of the American Chemical Society. As a past Chair and Secretary, he is a strong advocate for networking within COMP and expanding our programming to include outreach and development of undergraduate and graduate researchers in the field.
