Edward Wayne Buchel BSc, MD, FACS

Dr. Edward Buchel, BSc, MD, FACS joined the Department of Surgery, Section of Plastic Surgery in 2004 as Associate Professor and Section Head. Dr. Buchel completed his medical training at the University of Manitoba and his Residency in General Surgery at St. Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center in Manhattan New York. Dr. Buchel then went on to complete a Fellowship in Plastic Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota. Further training in reconstructive microsurgery was completed in Taipei Taiwan. Dr. Buchel remained on Staff and was the Program Director of the Microsurgery Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale Arizona until returning to Winnipeg in 2004.

On returning to Winnipeg, he became the Head of the Section of Plastic Surgery and was the Program Director of the Plastic Surgery Residency until 2009. Dr. Buchel is Deputy Head of Surgery for the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and Head Surgery Site for the Health Sciences Centre. In 2006, Dr. Buchel developed and became the Director of Microvascular and Reconstruction Fellowship at the University of Manitoba.
