Edward Black MBBS, Bsc, FRCS (CTh)

Dr. Black Bec MBBS FRCS FRCS(CTh) was appointed as Consultant Thoracic Surgeon in SEHA in August 2014. Before coming to the UAE he was leading the Thoracic service in Oxford University Hospitals since 2009 and prior to that was a consultant in Nottingham University Hospitals sine 2006. He received his CCST in Cardiothoracic surgery after training in Leicester, Nottingham and Sheffield including fellowships in Upper GI surgery and advanced VATS lung cancer surgery with world pioneer of VATS Lobectomy Dr. Walker in Edinburgh. He graduated from Guy’s Medical School, London in 1992.

He has held several senior management roles including Trustee Of The Society For Cardiothoracic Surgery In Great Britain and Ireland (SCTS), organizer of education at European Society for Thoracic Surgeons and British Thoracic Oncology Group and several international workshops in advanced thoracic surgical techniques including VATS lobectomy and segmentectomy, chest wall cancer surgery and chest wall trauma surgery. He is currently Vice President of the Emirates Thoracic Society.
