Edith (Edie) Brous, Esq. PC is a nurse attorney who combines her experience and passion for nursing and law in representing, advising, educating, and advocating the interests of licensed professionals, particularly nurses. Edie has been practicing law since 1999. She graduated with her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law where she received the prestigious David F. and Mary Louise Condon Prize as well as the Archibald R. Murray Public Service Award. Edie has been in solo practice since 2005, concentrating in the areas of professional licensure, malpractice, education, and liability reduction. Prior to that, Edie practiced in the New York City law firms of Martin, Clearwater & Bell, Garson, DeCorato & Cohen, and DLA Piper. Concentrating on medical malpractice and pharmaceutical defense, Edie was involved in the litigation of a variety of high-profile clients.

She has a breadth of experience in the nursing field, having worked in Emergency Rooms, Operating Rooms, and Critical Care Units throughout the country. She holds both an M.S. in Critical Care Nursing and an M.P.H. in Public Health from Columbia University. She has been licensed in 10 states as a Registered Nurse and maintains current R.N. licensure in New York and Pennsylvania. Edie has presented and published extensively on liability prevention, documentation practices, professional licensure protection, class action lawsuits, patients’ rights, and legislative policy as it relates to licensed health care professionals and public health. Much of her work has sought to raise the awareness of licensees regarding legal issues, specifically, malpractice licensure protection. Edie has been a member of many professional and bar organizations and was the 2011 president of The American Association of Nurse Attorneys. She is admitted to practice law in the state courts of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, the Eastern and Southern Districts of the New York Federal Courts, and The United States Supreme Court.
