Edgardo Somigliana MD, PhD

Edgardo Somigliana MD PhD graduated in Medicine in Milano in 1994 and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1999. Since 2001, he has been working as a Clinical Assistant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Fondazione Cà Granda in Milano, where he will be appointed Head of the Infertility Unit in January 2012. In 2006 he completed a PhD in Prenatal Medicine.

In 2010, he worked for a one year period as a senior medical officer in the Aber Hospital, a rural hospital in Northern Uganda.

Dr Somigliana’s major scientific interests are infertility and endometriosis, and he an author or co-author of more than 160 articles in international scientific journals. The main focus of his recent studies is the pathogenesis of ovarian endometriomas and their impact on ovarian reserve.

Edgardo Somigliana was appointed to the WERF Board of Trustees in December 2011.
