Edgardo Giacomo D'Angelo, born in Milan on 11 February 1941, enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan in the academic year 1959-'60 and graduated with honors on 20 July 1965, discussing an experimental thesis concerning the regulation of ventilation during muscular exercise in humans. Internal student of the Institute of Human Physiology from the academic year 1961-'62 to the academic year 1964-'65. Volunteer assistant at the Institute of Human Physiology of the University of Milan, until 31 January 1966. On 16 May 1967, he was appointed assistant in charge at the Institute of Human Physiology of the University of Ferrara, on 16 April 1968 that ordinary an assistant, and on 1 June 1971 he was an assistant. In 1971 he obtained the qualification for free teaching in Human Physiology.
The Medical Faculty of the University of Ferrara appointed him to teach Physiology in the specialization course in Otorhinolaryngology for the academic year 1971-'72, and that of Pharmacy to teach Food Science for the academic year 1972- '73. The Medical Faculty of the University of Ferrara awarded him the prize for scientific industriousness for the academic years from 1967-'68 to 1971-'72. From 1 November 1972, he was transferred, on a proposal from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan, to the Institute of Human Physiology of that University as an ordinary assistant with the qualification of an assistant. Said Faculty entrusted him with the teaching of Biophysics for the academic years from 1972-'73 to 1974-'75, and the substitute teaching of Human Physiology for the academic year 1974-'75.
Professor in charge of the teaching of Biophysics in the academic year 1975-'76 and of Human Physiology starting from the academic year 1976-'77, he also held lessons of Physiology and Biophysics in the specialty schools of Sports Medicine, Physiology, and Diseases of the Respiratory Apparatus, and of Respiratory Physiopathology and Physiokinesitherapy of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery of the University of Milan, during the academic years 1977-'78 and 1978-'79. On the proposal of this Faculty, he was awarded the prize for scientific industriousness for the academic years 1973-'74 and 1977-'78.
