Dr. Clay is Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Section of Hematology/Oncology with a joint appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, Section of Hematology/Oncology at Augusta University at the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Clay received her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Anthropology from New York University. She later earned her Medical Doctorate from Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, GA (2006). She completed her Internal Medicine and Pediatrics residency at Rutgers / New Jersey Medical School (2010). She finished her Pediatric Hematology/Oncology fellowship at University of North Carolina Hospitals, Chapel Hill, NC (2013) with a focus in Sickle Cell Disease.
Dr. Clay returned to the State of Georgia by joining Augusta University where she treats children, adolescents and young adults with rare blood disorders such as sickle cell disease. She is the director of Sickle Cell Disease Transition at Augusta University Sickle Cell Center where she plays the role of a physician navigator in transitioning adolescent care to adult care. She is establishing her research in sickle cell disease where she studies the mechanistic contribution of vitamin D deficiency and its effects of disease manifestation of sickle cell disease as well as bone disease. Her primary professional objective is to translate her clinical research to the field.
