Dr. Dustin Thomas Smith is an academic hospitalist and Assistant Chief of Medicine for Education in the Medical Specialty Care Service Line at the Atlanta Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Smith is an Associate Program Director at the Atlanta VA for the J. Willis Hurst Internal Medicine Residency Program and an Associate Professor of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Smith carries the clinical distinction of "Distinguished Physician" by the Emory Department of Medicine for his significant clinical contributions.

Dr. Smith is a graduate of Emory University School of Medicine. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of California, San Francisco, with distinction in the Primary Medical Education (PRIME) Program where he also was awarded the G. Thomas Evans Teaching Award as a resident. His interests include medical education, evidence-based medicine, and various topics in cardiology for which he has several peer-reviewed publications as well as local, regional, and national presentations.
