Dr. Dubravko Pavlin is a part time faculty and Professor of Orthodontics at the School of Dentistry and in private orthodontic practice in San Antonio, Texas. He is Board certified and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. He obtained his orthodontic specialty certificate and a Ph.D. in biological sciences from the University of Connecticut, and a DMD and MSD degrees from the University of Zagreb, Croatia. As a full time and part time orthodontic educator and faculty for the past 29 years, he is involved in teaching clinical orthodontics and basic biological sciences to orthodontic residents and dental students. Dr. Pavlin?s areas of expertise include orthodontic biomechanics, accelerated orthodontics, evidence based treatment, and the effect of mechanical loading on bone. He has been actively involved in funded research in clinical orthodontics and bone biology throughout his career. He was the lead scientist and consultant in the recent randomized clinical trial at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, investigating the effect of pulsatile loading on the rate of tooth movement during orthodontic treatment. Dr. Pavlin lectures regularly in the US and internationally and his research in bone biology and clinical orthodontics was published in prestigious journals and book chapters, including the 6th edition (2016) of the Graber?s Orthodontics: Current Principles and Techniques.
