Douglas F. Covey, Ph.D., is the Andrew C. and Barbara B. Taylor Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry, Pharmacology in Developmental Biology, and Anesthesiology at Washington University in St. Louis, School of Medicine. Covey is recognized internationally for his research on steroid chemistry and pharmacology, most notably for research on neuroactive steroids.
He received the ACS St. Louis Award and the Washington University in St. Louis Chancellor’s Award for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. He holds 16 U.S. patents and 69 foreign patents that have been licensed to three companies. He is a co-founder of Sage Therapeutics, Inc. He has published 374 articles, reviews, and book chapters and is on the editorial board for Steroids. Covey is a member of The Johns Hopkins Society of Scholars.
