Dr. Kirsch is a board-certified Neurologist and Sleep Specialist who is Medical Director of Carolinas HealthCare Sleep Medicine and is an Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. He has been heavily focused on physician education in Sleep Medicine and is currently a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) Board of Directors and President-elect of the AASM. He is an expert in many areas of sleep medicine, though his clinical focus is primarily on obstructive sleep apnea. He has spoken at a variety of regional and national meetings on a variety of sleep medicine topics, though most recently on home sleep testing and consumer product use in Sleep Medicine.

He trained at the Department of Neurology at the University of Rochester and at the Sleep Disorders Center at the University of Michigan. Previously a faculty member at University of Michigan, he returned to his home town of Boston, where he was an Instructor at Harvard Medical School, the Associate Director of the Brigham and Women’s Sleep Medicine fellowship program, and Assistant Director of the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Sleep Disorders Service. As well, he was the President of the Massachusetts Sleep Society (2012-2014). He moved to Charlotte, NC at the end of 2014 to take on a new challenge as the Medical Director of Carolinas HealthCare Sleep Medicine, overseeing sleep medicine across more than 40 hospitals in the system.
