Dr. Dorothy Adcock was born in Detroit Michigan. She attended Michigan State University where she achieved a BS and Doctor of Medicine, followed by a residency in anatomical and clinical pathology at University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. She currently serves as Medical Director for Colorado Coagulation and Discipline Director of special coagulation for Laboratory Corporation of America. She is chair of the Hematology and Pathology Device Panel for the Food and Drug Administration and is a member of the Hematopathology Test Development and Advisory Committee of the American Board of Pathology. She is the vice president of the North American Specialized Coagulation Laboratory Association (NASCOLA) and serves on the Coagulation Standards Committee for the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH).

She has published over 100 peer reviewed publications and a dozen book chapters. Dr. Adcock has presented more than 100 lectures on a national and international basis. Her main areas of research include pre-analytical variability, laboratory effects and measurement of direct oral anticoagulants and assay methods in the diagnosis and management of bleeding and clotting disorders.
