Dr. Doris George Yohannan is an Assistant Professor of Anatomy at Trivandrum Medical College. He completed his MBBS in 2010 and post-graduation (MD) in Anatomy in 2014, from Trivandrum Medical College. During his residency, from 2011, and later as a faculty member he taught anatomy to medical, dental, and allied health sciences students. He is interested in teaching clinically oriented anatomy and imaging anatomy.
Dr. Doris received the award for the best poster at the 2013 state conference of the Kerala chapter of the Anatomical Society of India. He was also awarded the Dr. Saramma Joseph memorial award for the best paper presented by a postgraduate student in 2014, by the Kerala State Chapter of the Anatomical Society of India. He was the University's top scorer for the MD Anatomy examination, in 2014, conducted by the Kerala University of Health Sciences. He has 10 publications in national and international journals. His current research interest is in utilizing technology in medical education (eg. Virtual microscopy in learning histology).
Dr. Doris is also a co-investigator in a project (involving Sree Chithra Tirunal Institute, Trivandrum, and International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad) to introduce a virtual reality-based solution for neuroanatomy teaching. Recently, he was awarded a travel grant by the Science and Engineering Research Board, Government of India to attend a course on Neuroradiology and Functional Neuroanatomy at the Institute of Neurology, University College London in March 2019.
