Doreen is a physiotherapist with a specialist interest and knowledge of pelvic floor dysfunction. Specialist areas of interest include prolapse, incontinence, intermittent self-catheterisation and neurogenic bowel dysfunction. Grant successes include an HTA funded study relating to abdominal massage for the relief of constipation in people with MS, and as a co-applicant and PI Glasgow Hub, in two HTA funded studies around Intermittent self catheterisation, and one on pelvic floor muscle exercises adherence and use of biofeedback.

An interest in adherence to exercise has led to the acceptance of a workshop at the World Confederation of Physiotherapists along with respected international physiotherapists in May 2015, and presentations at the International Continence Society 2014. As Chair of the Pelvic, Obstetric and Gynecological Professional Network of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and the International Continence Society Physiotherapy Forum Doreen has extensive experience in committee work and advertising the work physiotherapists undertake in the area of pelvic floor dysfunction to professionals and the public.
