Donna is a Nurse Practitioner and Endorsed Midwife. Old enough to have been hospital trained, Donna began work as a Critical Care Nurse, took a right turn into pregnancy & birth care, and then leaped into primary health care in very remote Australia. Donna’s current role is Regional Family Nurse Practitioner for a metropolitan community-controlled health service. The role supports clients and clinicians across 6 clinics through clinical care, staff education, and policy, and protocol development in the areas of women’s health, immunizations, and child health.
Donna’s passions are around keeping families well. She believes this is best done by working to her full scope of practice within a comprehensive primary health care service. Ideally, this would be community-controlled, respond to need and encompass clinical and dental care, allied health, specialists, youth teams, family support services, early childhood education, emergency hostel accommodation, and an aged care facility. Donna found this ideal place at the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Health Service. When she’s not at work, Donna loves camping, dancing, and anything vintage.
