Donna L. French BS, PhD

Donna L. French, PhD, is Vice President, Drug Delivery and Device Development at MedImmune, where she is responsible for the development and commercialization of novel drug delivery systems and drug/device combination product technologies. Prior to MedImmune, Donna was Senior Director of Device Development at Genentech for 8+ years and Executive Director of Drug Delivery Engineering at Amgen Inc for 15 years. For over 20 years, Dr French has been developing and commercializing combination products with a network of technology company partners in the medical device industry.

She has led the technical development and/or commercialization of numerous biopharmaceuticals with delivery devices worldwide, including auto-injectors, pen injectors, needle stick prevention devices, pre-filled syringes, needle-free injectors, patch injectors, intraocular delivery devices and patient aids/tools for drug preparation and administration.

Commercially marketed systems include the Lucentis® intraocular prefilled syringe, NuSpin™ pen injector, SureClick™ disposable auto-injector, UltraSafe® needle guard and SimpleJect™ Auto-Injection System. Prior to her responsibilities in drug/device combination products, she was a scientist researching novel formulations and drug delivery systems for biopharmaceuticals. She received her BS in Pharmacy from the Albany College of Pharmacy in Albany, NY in 1988 and a PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Nebraska in 2004.
