Dr. Donna Arnett, Ph.D., MSPH, is Dean of the University of Kentucky College of Public Health. A Kentucky native, Dr. Arnett obtained her bachelor of science degree in nursing and master of science in public health from the University of South Florida. She went on to earn her doctorate in epidemiology at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Prior to her appointment in the UK in 2016, Dr. Arnett was associate dean and chair of the Epidemiology Department at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. She is also a former president of the American Heart Association. During Dr. Arnett’s tenure as Epidemiology department chair at UAB, the department grew to one of the top ten research programs in the nation. As Associate Dean for Academic and Strategic Programs at UAB, she helped expand the school’s innovative four-year joint MD/MPH degree and played an important role in the development of an online MPH degree.
