Dongxin Lin, an expert in Cancer Genetics and Molecular Epidemiology, was born in Oct. 1955 in Fuzhou, Fujian Province. He graduated from the Department of Health of Shanghai First Medical College in 1980, then from the Graduate School of Beijing Medical University with a Master's degree in Medicine. From 1988 to 1994, he conducted fundamental research on cancer successively in INCa, WHO IARC, and US National Center for Toxicology Research. In 1995, he was recruited to the Cancer Institute of CAMS Cancer Hospital, successively serving as associate researcher and researcher. He is a Professor and Director in the Department of Etiology & Carcinogenesis, Cancer Institute, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, Beijing, China

He also serves part-time as a member of the Academic Committee of CAMS, a member of the Academic Committee of Peking University Health Science Center, a member of the Academic Committee of Sun Yat-sen University, and Deputy Director of the Academic Committee of National Key Laboratory of Molecular Oncology, Director of Chinese Anti-cancer Association and Honorary Chairman of the Professional Board of Tumor Etiology, and editorial board member of several domestic and overseas journals like Int J Cancer and Ch J Med.

Academician Dongxin Lin is devoted to the research on the molecular mechanism of the formation and development of malignant tumors and their genetic predisposition, with significant academic contribution in revealing and clarifying the susceptibility gene, gene-environment interaction, and the impact of genetic variation on the effect of radiotherapy and chemotherapy and prognosis. By 2016, he had more than 250 papers published in journals like Genet, Gastroenterology, J Natl Cancer Inst, and J Exp MedandCancer Res, including 13 in the top journalist Genet. His articles have been cited more than 11,900 times and feature an H-index of 63.

His findings won two-second places in the National Natural Science Award, one first place in the National Science and Technology Progress Award, one-second place in the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and won first place in the Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education. He’s a winner of the National Outstanding Youth Science Foundation, an expert entitled to Special Allowance of the State Council, a Middle-aged and Young Expert of Significant Contributions of the Ministry of Health, Beijing Advanced Worker, Excellent Individual for 973 Fundamental Research of the State Ministry of Science and Technology and National Outstanding Scientific and Technology Worker; he’s also included in State-level Top Talents Program.
