Donald E. Hricik, MD, is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame (1973, BS) and Georgetown University (1977, MD). He trained in internal medicine and nephrology at the Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston, MA. He is currently a Professor of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University and has been Chief of the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at University Hospitals Case Medical Center (HCMC) in Cleveland, Ohio since 1993. He also serves as the Co-Director of the Transplant Institute at HCMC.

Dr. Hricik has been a member of the American Society of Transplantation (AST) since 1987. He has served on AST’s Membership Committee, Kidney-Pancreas Committee, Board of Councilors, Education Committee, Chair of the Education Committee, Development Committee, Two tenures on the ATC Program Planning Committee) including service as AST Co-chair of ATC Program Planning Committee in 2006), AST Postgraduate Education Director, Finance Advisory Committee, and Editor, Third Edition of the AST Primer on Transplantation. Dr. Hricik’s research interests have focused on complications of immunosuppression and immune monitoring of kidney transplant recipients. He has published over 180 articles, 8 books (including 3 editions of “Nephrology Secrets” that have been published in 11 languages), and 35 book chapters.
