Dominique Missiakas PhD

​​Dominique Missiakas was born in France and received her PhD degree from the Université Paris XI. She is a Professor at the University of Chicago in the Department of Microbiology and Director of the Howard Taylor Ricketts Laboratory at Argonne National Laboratory. For more than 20 years, Dr. Missiakas has been engaged in scientific research and teaching at first-class universities in Europe and in the United States. Dr. Missiakas has carried out extensive research in bacterial genetics and physiology, bacterial pathogenesis, molecular biology, and animal models for the study of disease and the development of vaccines or therapeutics.  Dr. Missiakas has published more than 100 peer-reviewed manuscripts and has been awarded more than fifteen patents.  Dr. Missiakas’ research elucidated the molecular underpinnings of staphylococcal coagulation and escape from host phagocytic killing.
