Mr. Dominic Power is a Consultant Peripheral Nerve Surgeon and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Birmingham University. He works as a hand and nerve surgeon within the NHS at the Birmingham Hand Centre treating civilians and the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine treating combat injured UK and coalition personnel. He established the West Midlands Brachial Plexus and Peripheral Nerve Injury Service, bringing advanced peripheral neurosurgical reconstruction techniques to the UK. He has developed pioneering techniques for the reconstruction of paralysis, the management of nerve pain and the treatment of spasticity.

He continues to develop the specialty, leading UK and international research into nerve injury repair and reconstruction. He is the research lead for peripheral nerve for the HaPPeN Research Network at the Institute of Translational Medicine in Birmingham and established the UK PN-CRN in 2018 to develop multi-centre clinical trial capabilities in peripheral nerve surgery in the UK.

He is an internationally recognised expert in the field of peripheral nerve surgery, lecturing and training surgeons all over the world. He is the clinical supervisor for the Birmingham Peripheral Nerve Fellowship programme which commenced in 2012. He is the chief editor for the OrthOracle online digital procedural atlas - Hand, Wrist and Peripheral Nerve. He continues to lead the development of the specialty with advisory roles for industry in the development and application of new technologies for the benefit of patients.
