Dominic K. Puthoor MBBS, MS

Dr Dominic K. Puthoor, MBBS, MS is an Orthopedic Surgeon at The Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, Thrissur. Dominic Puthoor After graduating from Calicut University with a first rank in Chemistry, he did his MBBS and a postgraduate diploma in orthopaedics from Govt Medical College, Calicut. After completing Post Graduate degree in Orthopaedics from Govt Medical College, Trivandrum, he joined Amala Institute in 1988. He has undergone training in Orthopaedic Oncology at Tata Memorial Hospital and in Ilizarov techniques at Apollo Hospital, Chennai.

He has also undergone various other training which notable are the AO Basic course, Deformity course and Indo-German foot and leg course. His research interests relate to bone tumours on which he has several publications in various journals. He has contributed book chapters, including one in "Textbook of Orthopaedics and Trauma" by Kulkarni in 2008.

He is currently the Vice-President of the Kerala Orthopaedic Association and its elected President. He was the president of the Trichur Orthopaedic society from 2010 to 2013. He has organized several CMEs in various capacities and has presented many papers at regional and national orthopaedic conferences as a faculty. Dr Dominic is the recipient of several awards, which include Prof P K Surendran Memorial gold medal, 1995 and Dr Varghese Mathai travelling fellowship of KOA, 1994-95.
