Dmitry Oleynikov, M.D., is board certified in general surgery and specializes in minimally invasive and computer assisted surgery. Dr. Oleynikov performs more than 50 laparoscopic Nissen fundoplication surgeries each year. It is one of many procedures that Dr. Oleynikov does at The Nebraska Medical Center.

Dr. Oleynikov is an assistant professor of surgery at the University of Nebraska Medical Center where he serves as the co-chair of the Joseph and Richard Still Faculty Fellow in Medicine and director of Education and Training Center for Minimally Invasive and Computer Assisted Surgery.

Dr. Oleynikov graduated magna cum laude in psychology from Cornell University in 1990. From there, he attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine where he graduated with honors in 1994.

He served his internship and surgical residency at the University of Utah Medical Center in Salt Lake City in 2000. Upon completing his residency, Dr. Oleynikov served as acting instructor and senior fellow at the Center for Videoendoscopic Surgery in the Department of Surgery at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle.

Now at The Nebraska Medical Center, Dr. Oleynikov has been active in developing robotic surgery. He has performed numerous minimally invasive robotic procedures and is currently developing new kinds of micro robots in order to assist in surgical procedures.
