His primary research interest is the elucidation of the functional organization of biopsychosocial mechanisms underlying behavioral and affective processes, with a special emphasis on autonomic regulation and neuroscience. His primary line of biomedical and health research includes laboratory, ambulatory, and population studies of stress, resilience, coping, and psychobiology. His goal is to advance knowledge from adaptation and resilience psychobiology for intervention research with individuals (via the neuroplasticity or epigenetic changes of vulnerable facets of phenotypes) and society (via the society mechanisms mitigating the adversity effects on persons with vulnerable phenotypes) for health recovery, health protection (disease prevention), and health promotion in phenotype- and genotype-diverse populations.
