Djillali Annane was appointed Professor of Medicine: Critical Care Medicine at the University of Paris in 1996 having completed his Ph.D. in Pharmacology in 1995 and MD in 1991. Professor Annane also has Specialist Qualifications in Intensive Care Medicine, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Statistics, and Pharmacology. Professor Annane is the Director of the 36-bed intensive care unit at Raymond Poincaré, Assistance Publique Hôpitaux de Paris (APHP) which is the premier tertiary care hospital in France. He is Chief Counsellor of the Minister of Health for medical education and research, Dean of the School of Medicine at the University of Versailles Saint Quentin, and was President of the French Society of Intensive Care (SRLF) from 2011 to 2013. Professor Annane’s main research interests are the pathophysiology and management of septic shock and he has been involved as the coordinator / principal investigator of several large multi-national randomized controlled trials. He has published more than 300 peer-reviewed articles.
