Dirk Himpe MD, PhD

Dr. Dirk Himpe graduated from the Catholic University of Leuven (KUL) Medical School where he was awarded Doctor in de Genres-, Heel- & Verloskunde (MD) in 1978. In 1982 he became a board-certified Specialist in Anaesthesiology and in 1998 a board-certified Intensive Care Specialist. In 1991, he passed the European Diploma in Intensive Care Medicine (EDIC). He finished his Doctoral Thesis at the Faculty of Medicine University of Antwerp (UA) and was Ph.D. awarded as Doctor in de Medische Wetenschappen in 2004. He obtained a Getuigschrift Master in Gezondheidseconomie (MHE awarded) in 2005 at the Vlekho Business School of Brussels. He is currently the Director of the Department of Anaesthesia at the ZNA Middelheim General Hospital in Antwerp Belgium and he was President of the Medical Council at the same hospital until January 2014.
