Diego is a Postdoctoral Scholar with a background in Speech-Language Pathology (BSc at Universidad de Concepcion) and Clinical Neuropsychology (PGDip at Universidad de Chile and Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Chile). Prior to joining the ALBA Lab in early 2021, he completed an MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience, a Ph.D. in Neuropsychology and Cognitive Neuroscience, and worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher, all under the direct supervision of Prof. Cathy Price at University College London. By harnessing the power of structural and functional neuroimaging to study the behavioral consequences of brain damage in the context of neurological disorders, he aims to advance our knowledge of the functional anatomy of language and the compensatory mechanisms that drive language recovery. He plans to leverage this knowledge to (i) develop neuroscientifically-informed patient stratification strategies, (ii) design tailored behavioral interventions, (iii) predict treatment responses, and (iv) guide the use of noninvasive brain stimulation techniques for experimental/therapeutic purposes.
