Dr. Didier Bouhassira (MD, Ph.D.) has been trained in neurology and neurophysiology in Paris. He has been involved in both basic and clinical research on pain and is currently the Director of Research at the National Institut for Health and Medical Research (Inserm). He is an associate attending neurologist in the Pain Clinic at Ambroise Paré hospital in Boulogne-Billancourt and director of the laboratory of “Pathophysiology and Clinical Pharmacology of Pain” (Inserm U-987). Didier Bouhassira was president of the French Pain Society (2013-2016) and is an active member of several international associations and societies. He has been a field editor for the European Journal of Pain (2008-2021) and associate editor for several scientific journals including Pain. He has co-authored over 220 articles in peer-reviewed journals and has written a number of book chapters devoted to the pharmacology and pathophysiology of pain.
In January 2023, Didier Bouhassira will take over as Editor-in-Chief of the EJP from Luis Garcia-Larrea. Luis has served as the EJP Editor-in-Chief since 2016 and will now continue in his role as President-Elect of the European Pain Federation EFIC. “The European Journal of Pain is the house journal of the European Pain Federation EFIC and a key publication in the pain research ecosystem.
