Diane has been a part of the Interoperability team since 2007 and is currently the Director of Interoperability at UPMC. As Program Director, Diane leads a team of clinical and technical analysts whose goals include the broad span of legacy integration using HL7, aggregation of all electronic data into UPMC’s interoperability platform, connecting UPMC with regional and national Health Information Exchanges (HIE’s), intelligent presentation of clinical data to support the patient in the transition of care, and the development of integrated process orchestration to enable the transparent influx of clinical IT into clinical workflow.
Diane has worked in both clinical and information technology roles. Diane served the first half of her career in the clinical arena in neurosurgery and later as Patient Care Manager for the Trauma ICU at UPMC-Presbyterian. She transitioned into the technical arena and served in a variety of roles including a Systems Analyst and Informatics Nurse. During this time Diane coordinated clinical activities associated with the development, education, implementation, and ongoing utilization and evaluation of a Critical Care Information System and technical activities associated with the programming of clinical displays, report writing, and data quality efforts. Diane received her Diploma in Nursing from Uniontown Hospital School of Nursing. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Masters of Science in Nursing from the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Trauma.
