Deyu Li is a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Vanderbilt University. He received his B.E. in Engineering Thermophysics from the University of Science and Technology of China, M.S. in Engineering Mechanics from Tsinghua University, China, and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley, respectively. After working as a post-doctoral research fellow at UC Berkeley, Dr. Li joined the faculty of Vanderbilt Mechanical Engineering as an assistant professor in January 2004 and was promoted to associate and full professor in 2010 and 2016, respectively.

Dr. Li’s research interest includes Micro/Nanoscale energy transport and Micro/Nanofluidics. He has 83 refereed journal publications in well-respected journals such as Nature Nanotechnology, Physical Review Letters, ACS Nano, Nano Letters, Applied Physics Letters, Small, Lab-on-a-chip, Analytical Chemistry, and Journal of Heat Transfer. His journal publications have been cited more than 5900 times according to Web of Science. He is a recipient of the Guo Muruo Award from the University of Science and Technology of China, the National Science Foundation Career Award in 2007, the Vanderbilt Chancellor’s Award for Research in 2013, and was elected an ASME fellow in 2017.
