Detlev Erdmann MD, PhD, MHSc

Detlev Erdmann, MD, PhD, MHSc was a Professor of Plastic Surgery at Duke University and a Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. He had a PhD degree and a Master of Health Sciences (MHSc) degree. He had a part-time affiliation with the Durham VA Medical Center serving our veterans and their families. He enjoys working in an academic environment and being able to cover a variety of plastic surgery cases.
His main interest is plastic-reconstructive surgery, including repair of the abdomen and chest, breast, extremities, and head and neck, including microsurgery. His passion is to work with patients who experienced a significant weight loss, such as after gastric bypass surgery, which is commonly known as "body contouring" procedures. When on call, He mainly deal with facial and upper extremity trauma-related injuries.
