Detlef Behrend

Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Detlef Behrend studied materials science at the Technical University Merseburg and graduated far below the standard period time of study. Then he joined to the Medical Department of Rostock University and worked as a group leader in the laboratory for Artifical Organs (Prof. Dr. Klinkmann).

Afterwards he received his Dr.-Ing. (1988) as an external assistent from the Technical University Merseburg (Prof. Dr. Petras) working on polyurethanes as biomaterials. In 1998 he finished his habilitation at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Rostock and obtained a faculty membership with the veni legendi for "Non-Metal Construction Materials".
