Derek D. Bauer MD

Derek Bauer, MD, is a neurologist specializing in caring for patients with epilepsy and tuberous sclerosis. He completed medical school and residency training at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center before coming to the University of Virginia. At UVA, he completed two years of fellowship, one year of clinical neurophysiology, and the second year of clinical epilepsy training.

Board-certified in both neurology and clinical neurophysiology, Bauer joined the UVA neurology faculty in 2017. He serves as the co-director of the tuberous sclerosis clinic, in addition to his clinical duties in the epilepsy monitoring unit and epilepsy clinic
