Dr. Abbott received a Bachelor of Arts in biology degree from Rice University, and he went on to graduate with honors from the Baylor College of Dentistry. After his formal education, Dr. Abbott went on to study immunology, microbiology, and oral medicine at the State University of New York at Buffalo’s School of Dental Medicine. In addition to working with Stonebriar Smile Design, he also has his own private practice, and he is a member of the dental oncology staff at the Baylor Charles A. Sammons Cancer Center and the Baylor University Medical Center. He currently serves as a consultant for the American Cancer Society where he is developing oral monitoring guidelines for post-treatment cancer survivors.

Dr. Abbott is also the founder and CEO of Dental Oncology Professionals (DOP), a dental office dedicated solely to serving the dental needs of patients who are currently battling cancer. Modern cancer treatments can often lead to intraoral sores, pain, and infections that can drastically affect a patient’s quality of life as well as their overall health at a time when they need to be strong. DOP is committed to helping patients overcome these obstacles so that their treatment can stay on schedule, proper nutrition can be maintained, and their quality of life can be protected throughout the entire process before, during, and after cancer treatment.
