Connect with the speaker?

Denise Minger is an author, health consultant, public speaker, where she focuses on debunking bad science and promoting critical thinking about nutrition. In 2014, she published her first book, "Death by Food Pyramid," which explores the roots of our current beliefs about food and equips readers with the tools necessary to navigate the labyrinth of conflicting dietary claims. On her blog, she is best known for her viral critiques of The China Study and the USDA dietary guidelines.

A resident of Portland, Oregon, Minger first entered the research world as a teenager in attempt to heal herself from the damage of a raw vegan diet. After starting college at age 16, she pursued multiple fields of study in both the sciences and arts, eventually turning to autodidactism to reach a thorough and sometimes unconventional understanding of diet and human health. Her research focuses include vegan, paleolithic, and low-carbohydrate diets, evolutionary biology, and the impact of genetic variation on individual nutritional needs.
