Denise Messina joined the College of Dentistry faculty as an Assistant Professor - Clinical part-time in 2017. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Education and Certificate of Dental Hygiene from The Ohio State University in 1986 and her Master of Dental Hygiene in 2019. She began her Dental Hygiene teaching career at Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland in 1995, where she was adjunct faculty in clinical and pre-clinical dental hygiene courses, periodontal clinical instructor, and course director in General and Oral Histopathology.
In addition to teaching from 1995 - 2017, she practiced clinical dental hygiene from 1986 - 2017. She began a full-time faculty appointment in 2019 and is course director for Oral Radiography, Oral Histology, Care for Patients with Special Needs, Practice Management, Contemporary Issues in Dental Hygiene, Oral Health and Disease Prevention, Dental Hygiene Senior Seminar, and Current Concepts in Dental Care Delivery Models. Ms. Messina is an active member of the American Dental Hygienists' Association, a Delegate and Alternate Delegate to the Ohio Dental Association Annual House of Delegates, and was past Vice-President of the Cleveland Dental Hygienists' Association.
