Denise M. Dudzinski PhD, MTS

Dr. Dudzinski is Professor and Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of Bioethics & Humanities, Adjunct Professor in the School of Law, and Adjunct Professor in Pediatrics (Division of Bioethics) & Family Medicine at the University of Washington. Dr. Dudzinski was appointed Chair of the department effective March 1, 2015.

She received her PhD in Religion and Ethics from Vanderbilt University and her Masters of Theological Studies (MTS) from Vanderbilt Divinity School. She is Chief of the Ethics Consultation Service and Associate Chair of the Ethics Advisory Committee at the University of Washington Medical Center.

She was a member of the American Society for Bioethics & Humanities Task Force to update the Core Competencies in Health Care Ethics Consultation. She was Senior Fellow in Clinical and Research Ethics at Vanderbilt Center for Clinical and Research Ethics and Fellow in Transplant Ethics and Policy at Vanderbilt Transplant Center.

Dr. Dudzinski co-edited a book entitled Complex Ethics Consultations: Cases that Haunt Us published by Cambridge University Press in 2008. In addition to numerous book chapters, her articles, often pertaining to clinical and organizational ethics, have been published in the New England Journal of Medicine, Pediatrics, Hastings Center Report, Theoretical Medicine & Bioethics, The American Journal of Bioethics, the Journal of Clinical Ethics, and Annals of Thoracic Surgery.
